Scars to Your Beautiful is one of the five tracks that were the first to reach Billboard's chart. In an interview that Cara did with Rap Up, this particular song had a lot in the minds of many people who listened to her story about finding acceptance and appreciation for yourself. Cara's music is known to contain messages of love, self-love and mental health. The music she sings is reflective of her personal struggle with insomnia and mental health. In a Reuters interview she describes the album as being half turbulent and half complete. She describes her growth through therapy and she encourages others to seek help when necessary. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on July 11th, 1996. Her parents gave her a guitar when she was 10 years old, which led to her passion for music. When she was 13she began covering songs she liked on YouTube in order to show the public that she was talented and brave enough to pursue a career as an artist. Sweater Weather is one of those covers that led to her being discovered to be signed by EP Entertainment. This record label let her write the songs she wrote herself.
